ACV Awarded International Ground Handling Safety Certification
On March 3, the International Air Transport Association (IATA) awarded the International Ground Handling Safety Audit (ISAGO) certification to the Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV) and Phu Quoc International Airport. This prestigious certification confirms that both entities meet international standards for ground handling safety.
A Significant Achievement
The awarding ceremony took place at Phu Quoc International Airport. ACV has successfully passed the rigorous evaluation set by IATA. This evaluation follows strict quality inspection principles and adheres to standardized international protocols.
IATA experts conducted a thorough assessment of ground handling services at ACV and Phu Quoc International Airport. They evaluated compliance with ISAGO standards in various areas. These areas include organizational structure, safety management systems, security, training, and equipment maintenance procedures.
Comprehensive Evaluation
The evaluation process covered multiple ground handling activities. These activities included load control, passenger and baggage handling, ramp services, aircraft towing, and cargo handling. The IATA experts meticulously reviewed the management systems at ACV. They also assessed the operational processes and documentation at Phu Quoc International Airport.
All stringent requirements set by ISAGO were met. This achievement highlights ACV’s commitment to maintaining high safety and quality standards in ground operations.

Commitment to Safety
Nguyen Thanh Huong, the IATA Country Director for Vietnam, emphasized the importance of the ISAGO certification. She stated that it represents not only compliance with global standards but also a deep commitment to safety and quality. “ISAGO is not just an audit; it is a global standard for ground safety in aviation,” she said.
The ISAGO program evaluates various criteria. These criteria range from operational processes to risk management, training, and equipment safety. Achieving this certification indicates that ACV has excelled in its ground operations.
A Priority for ACV
This accomplishment places ACV among the airport operators that prioritize safety above all else. “Compliance with ISAGO is not just a testing exercise; it is an ongoing commitment,” Huong noted. She highlighted that standards must remain consistent and unchanging.
The certification process took over two years of training, assessment, and preparation. IATA has now officially recognized ACV and Phu Quoc International Airport for their outstanding ground handling practices.
Future Plans for Improvement
Nguyen Duc Hung, Deputy General Director of ACV, expressed the corporation’s commitment. He stated that ACV will continue to maintain and elevate safety and service quality standards. “We will keep improving to meet the rising demands of passengers and partners,” Hung said.
ACV plans to expand training programs. This initiative aims to help other international airports, such as Cat Bi, Lien Khuong, Phu Bai, and Vinh, achieve ISAGO certification in ground handling services.
ISAGO Overview
Launched in 2007, ISAGO is the International Air Transport Association’s safety audit standard for ground operations. This standard is utilized by over 290 entities at nearly 300 airports worldwide. ISAGO aims to ensure that airport ground operations are safe and efficient.
The ISAGO certification provides a comprehensive evaluation for all ground activities at airports. It applies to companies involved in air transport and ground service operations.
Training and Development
ACV has announced plans to expand its training and development programs. The goal is to achieve ISAGO certification at other international airports managed by ACV. The certification includes a range of standards and procedures that companies must follow to ensure safety and quality in ground service operations.
These areas cover safety management, environmental management, human resource management, and process management. By adhering to these standards, ACV aims to maintain high operational quality.
The Importance of ISAGO
As global aviation trends evolve, ISAGO has become a prerequisite for future collaborations in air transport. The certification also helps establish a common standard for the entire aviation industry.
Air transport companies must comply with ISAGO processes and standards. This compliance ensures consistency and safety in their operations. It also minimizes risks and enhances cooperation among companies in the aviation sector.
Enhancing Industry Standards
ISAGO certification is crucial for creating a safer and more efficient aviation environment. It fosters a culture of safety and excellence in ground handling. ACV’s achievement sets a benchmark for others in the industry.
The commitment to safety extends beyond compliance. It is about creating a safer experience for passengers and partners. ACV’s dedication to maintaining these standards reflects its leadership in the aviation sector.
Conclusion
The ISAGO certification awarded to ACV and Phu Quoc International Airport marks a significant milestone. It underscores the importance of safety in ground handling operations. With ongoing training and improvements, ACV is poised to lead the way in aviation safety.
This achievement not only enhances ACV’s reputation but also contributes to the overall safety of the aviation industry in Vietnam. As ACV continues to strive for excellence, the future of ground handling safety looks promising.
